It feels like ages since I’ve posted! Life has gotten pretty crazy over the last couple months and that hasn’t left a whole lot of time for awesome nail art. I’ve started my own American Outlaws Chapter, taught summer school, implemented a new reading program and started dating again. I’ve actually started using Espionage Cosmetics’ NailedIt nail wraps in a pinch. You can find my review of them on FangirlNation!
Halloween is my favorite time of the year. So I had to celebrate with an appropriate manicure. When I asked my little roommate for a suggestion he said pumpkins. Then he proceeded to ask: “Can you do ten pumpkins?” I saw this as a challenge so I though what’s better not than ten pumpkins? A pumpkin king! I started with two coats of Sinful Colors’ Black on Black, then topped it with Enchanted Polish’s Rainbow Juice for a starry effect. Next, I broke out the tiny brushes and painted the moon followed by the purple rolling hills. Next came the pumpkins and Jack on my thumb. I’m pretty out of practice but I’m pleased with how they came out.
There were a million Captain America quotes I could have chosen and I used one that was Loki impersonating him.
As much as I love the Star Spangled Man with the Plan, I waited until I had a couple US Soccer games to do this one. I did one mani and I hated the way it came out. It was a friendly reminder about why I hate doing nail art with straight polish. So I switched up the design and made it more sparkly.
Enchanted Polish- La La Land, July 2014, Djinn in a Bottle,
Sorry for the delay! It’s been a busy last couple of weeks!
Here’s my Iron Man inspired mani that I wore for opening night of Avengers: Age of Ultron. I used Zoya’s pixie dust because I figured Tony Stark would like something flashy. The gold tips were a fun finishing touch.
Also here’s a fun picture of Megan and I at Super Hero Day at Disneyland this past Sunday! We killed it as Thor and Loki!
I’ve recently been watching all of the Marvel movies with my roommates’ 4 year old. His favorite character so far has been Hulk so he inspired this next design.
For this design I wanted to play with different things that represent the big guy. The ripped purple shorts were fun to paint and I loved how the crackle polish created a cool smashed effect. I was surprised much I loved this one when I finished.
Sinful Colors: Happy Ending; Sally Hansen Crackle Overcoat: Starburst
Needless to say I’m pretty stoked about the upcoming Avengers: Age of Ultron Movie. Ever since getting introduced to the Marvel Cinematic Universe, I have been captivated by the dynamic stories and reading as many comics as possible. To celebrate the cultural phenomena I’m starting a new Marvel series of nail art!
I’m kicking things off in style with nail art inspired by Loki. One of Marvel’s many complicated characters. Tom Hiddleston’s portrayal of the adapted Asgardian Prince is flawless even when he’s blue.
The main design is just a chevron French tip lined with gold. The helmet was painted with gold acrylic paint and I’m really excited with how it came out. This design makes me feel like I could take over the world.
Weapons of Choice: Sinful Colors- Black on Black, Show Me the Way
I’ll be the first to admit this wasn’t my best work but it came out pretty cute. I wanted to do a twist on traditional green St. Patrick’s Day nails. It was really fun using Sinful’s new blooming polishes.
Weapons of Choice:
Sinful Colors: Sail la Vie, Shamrockin, Black on Black
This was my roommate’s fault. She wanted Baymax nails so I did them and then forgot to take a picture! So I had to recreate them on myself with some changes since I have longer nailbeds.
I had to use my Enchanted Polish because the holographic effect made the design look more heroic.
Weapons of Choice:
- Enchanted Polish- July 2014, Djinn in a Bottle
- China Glaze- coconut kiss
- Sinful Colors- Snow Me White
This inspiration kinda came out of no where. I wanted to do something different and some how Pixar’s Paperman short came to mind.
Shout out to one of my students for making me the airplane!
Oh man it’s been ages since I’ve blogged! I was on a self imposed nail art ban so I would study for a test I needed to pass. I’ve missed my polish!
This design was done before the ban. Wicked has been one of my favorite musicals since I first saw it in 2009. I used the design from the playbill as inspiration.
